AquaSnap® Total - Rapid ATP Test for Liquid Samples

AquaSnap® ATP Test for Water Samples – Instructional Summary

This video demonstrates the proper use of AquaSnap®, Hygiena®’s ATP test for detecting organic and microbial contamination in water samples. It is commonly used for monitoring water systems like cooling towers and clean-in-place (CIP) systems.

AquaSnap Variations

  • AquaSnap® Free – Measures dissolved (free-floating) ATP.
  • AquaSnap® Total – Measures both free ATP and microbial ATP.

For more details on Free vs. Total ATP, visit the Hygiena website.

Key Features

  • Compatible with EnSURE® and SystemSURE Plus luminometers.
  • Liquid-stable chemistry for accurate, consistent results.
  • Patented Snap-Valve technology enables easy activation and mixing.
  • Honey-dipper tip collects 100µL of water for reliable sampling.
  • Shelf life: 15 months (refrigerated), 4 weeks (room temperature).

Materials Needed

  • AquaSnap test device
  • Luminometer (EnSURE or SystemSURE Plus)
  • Water sample

Three-Step Testing Process

  1. Collection
    • Equilibrate AquaSnap to room temperature.
    • Shake water sample before testing.
    • Flick AquaSnap downward to release extractant liquid.
    • Remove dipper, submerge in the sample (1–2 sec, no swirling), then return it to the tube.
  2. Activation
    • If applicable, select the testing location in the luminometer.
    • Break the snap valve by bending the bulb back and forth.
    • Squeeze the bulb twice to expel liquid into the tube.
    • Shake for 5 seconds.
  3. Measurement
    • Insert the test device into the luminometer chamber and close the lid.
    • Hold the luminometer upright and press OK to start measurement.
    • Results appear in 15 seconds.

Disposal

  • AquaSnap devices are recyclable and may be discarded in a recycling bin.
